Is it Normal To Switch Between Pointe Shoe Brands?
Each pointe shoe brand has a different shape and box size to their pointe shoe. The visual look of the pointe shoe is not as important as how your shoe supports your foot. When you’re constantly on your toes for hours, that support is going to be necessary.
As we know, when it comes to the dancer’s feet, they all require something different. They might need a stronger shank, a wider box, etc. Having a variety of brands - as we do at our store - makes it easier for you to find the perfect pointe shoe for your feet.
Have you noticed that the longer you are in dance, you might have to change brands?
That's perfectly normal.
Our feet are evolving as we continue to dance and develop our techniques. There are so many reasons you might need to switch: your feet are getting stronger, improve on a specific technique, you're struggling to get on your box and more.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions to your pointe shoe fitter. They are there to help explain and understand why something might or might not be working for you. Your pointe shoe fitter might recommend something new just depending on what they’re noticing during your fitting.
